Sammy was a beutiful dog,chow-sheppard mix,we brought him with us from S. Carolina in 1996,he was such a young vibrant puppy,looked like a little furball in those days,as he got older,everyone was always so scared of him because of the type of dog he was but he would never hurt anyone, he had a gentle soul. Sammy with in the last 2 yrs. or so developed horrible skin issues and then most recently his hip or back [spinal area} developed almost like a crippling arthritis or hip dysplasia,couldnt hardly walk anymore and started having alot of pain,tried a couple things but nothing was helping as much as I would have liked, so we had him put to sleep to end his pain and he as well,as PJ will always be greatly loved and missed.

My furry friend is sick; something's terribly wrong
The vet checked him over; there's nothing he can do
I'm afraid soon I'll be sending him; home to You
Please take him back home; on the wings of a dove

Take him to a meadow; where he can play and run free
Under bright sunlight; among the green grass and trees
He's been a part of my life now; for so many years
I'll miss him so much; my eyes are filling with tears

Tell him we'll meet at the Bridge; then we'll go play

Loss of a friend - my dog
I just wanted to let you know that I made it home.The journey wasn't an easy one, but it didn't take too long.
Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh and newI wish that you could close your eyes and that you could see it too.
Please try not to be sad for me.Try to understand God is taking care of me...I'm in the shelter of His hands.
Here there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no pain.Here there is no crying and I'll never hurt again.
Here it is so peaceful when all the angels sing.I really have to go for now... I've just got to try my wings.

They come into our lives for such a short time-a time we wouldn't trade not even for a dime.
Then before you know it the years have flown byand then all of a sudden we're saying good-bye.
It wasn't that long ago we said our good-byes.We held on to you tight as you closed your eyes.
Your spirit has flown home on the wings of a doveinto God's loving arms; in heaven above.
Over the days we've shed many tearsbut the memories we have will live on for years.
We feel your presence and we know that you are nearYou're keeping us safe and calming our fears.
We think about memories from years pastwhen you were young and strong and ran so fast.
We remember all the great times that we all had.How you always made us happy never made us mad.

I Thought of You Today.
I woke early this morning, lifted the shade
to a sky overcast and gray.
No ray of sun to brighten my heart,
and I thought of you today.
The breezes of summer are no more
and have moved along on their way.
The crisp air of autumn has settled in,
and I thought of you today.
The crunch of the leaves under my feet,
I remembered how you loved to play,
chasing the leaves across the yard,
and I thought of you today.
As the daylight faded into dusk
and the shadows came to play,
I lit a candle and watched the flame dance,
and I thought of you today.
I crawled into bed, turned out the lamp
and glanced where you used to lay.
The tears came again, as they always do,
as I thought of you today.

Knowing
If I had known that on that day our time was near the end

The time has come for the tears to end
for you to be happy and cheerful again.
I am safe in God's home above
cradled in His arms; covered with His love.
We run and play by the Bridge all day
waiting for the day when you'll be here to stay.
You've been crying so much I feel bad
I want you to be happy and not so sad.
Remember the time when I was so small
I couldn't even pickup the rubber ball.
I fought that ball from morning to night
it made you laugh, I was quite a sight.
Remember teaching me sit and stay
we had such fun since I didn't really obey.
but you kept at it with test after test
so when I entered my first show I was the best.
Remember the great times we had in the past
like when we walked to the park we had a blast.
We'd run and play all through the park
until the sun went down and it got dark.
Remember the times we went for a ride
I was so excited I'd jump right inside.
Away we went to who knows where
but you and I we didn't really care.
I'll always love you, you're my best friend
